Joining HelloChat

HelloChat is free for members. You join with your email address and a password. Once you confirm your email, your account is accepted automatically, but you must still add a real profile photo of yourself before you can chat or call.

Keep your password private and use one you do not use anywhere else. Passwords already exposed in known data leaks are refused. You can turn on two-step sign-in with an authenticator app, and HelloChat may email you when your account is signed in. You can sign out of every device from Settings. You are responsible for activity on your account if you share your sign-in details.

Your profile photo

Use a real picture of yourself. Do not upload another person’s picture, pretend to be someone else, or copy another member’s photo for your profile.

You must add a real profile photo of yourself before you can post messages, make calls or create chats. Photos are accepted automatically when uploaded, and HelloChat admins may remove any photo that breaks these rules. A removed photo must be replaced before you can keep chatting.

Identical photo files already registered to another HelloChat account are blocked, including previously used files. Your own previously used photo may be uploaded again.

Duplicate checks apply to files registered within HelloChat, not every image on the internet. Cropped or edited copies may evade matching. Accepting or reviewing a photo does not prove identity or photo ownership.

Photo privacy

You may hide your picture at any time. Pending and rejected photos are visible only to their owner and admins. Admins can review photos even when hidden.

Approved, visible photos are available only to signed-in members with access. Saving controls are restricted, but this website cannot prevent all copying or screenshots.

A file fingerprint is retained to prevent reuse by another account, even after you change your photo.

Members-only conversations

Rooms and messages require sign-in. General and Random are shared with members; private one-to-one chats and invited groups remain restricted to their participants.

Restricted access does not guarantee confidentiality. Participants may copy, share or record what they receive. Do not share passwords, financial credentials, or information you cannot risk being disclosed.

Connections to HelloChat are encrypted in transit, and voice and video calls use encrypted connections. Text messages, photos, files and voice notes are not yet end-to-end encrypted, so HelloChat does not claim end-to-end encryption for them.

Friends, following and invitations

Members whose email is confirmed can appear in the members list, where other members can find and follow them. Only your chat name and permitted photo are shown there; your email address and phone number are not.

Following someone does not make you friends and does not let you message or call them. Messaging and calls require an accepted friend request. When someone joins or opens your personal invite link, you become friends automatically, unless either of you has blocked the other.

When you invite people from your phone contacts, your device opens its own contact picker or share menu. HelloChat does not upload or store your contact list. Only invite people who would welcome the invitation.

Alerts and notifications

If you allow notifications, HelloChat may alert you to new private messages and calls even when the app is closed. When the app is closed, your device plays its own alert sound instead of your chosen ringtone. Alerts depend on your device, browser and settings and are not guaranteed to arrive. You can turn them off at any time.

Advertising

Chatting and calling stay free for members. Businesses may pay to show ads: $25.00 for each 7 days for a flyer or photo ad, and $50.00 for each 7 days for a video ad. The advertiser also pays the card processing fee and any sales tax, which are shown before payment. Advertisers are responsible for any tax obligations of their own business.

Card payments are taken only on Stripe’s secure payment page. HelloChat never asks for or stores card numbers or security codes.

Every paid ad is reviewed by an admin before it goes live. HelloChat may reject or remove any ad that breaks the community rules or the law, or that is misleading, offensive or unsafe. If an ad is rejected before it runs, the payment is refunded. A limited number of ads run at once, so an approved ad may wait for an open space. Reach figures shown on the ad page are estimates, not guarantees.

Ads appear in the top bar and on the call screen. Video ads play silently. Each member’s view of an ad is counted once a day so advertisers can see how often their ad was seen; advertisers do not receive members’ names or contact details. Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of their ads and for any goods or services they offer. An ad is not an endorsement by HelloChat.

Community rules

These rules apply everywhere on HelloChat: General and Random, group chats, private chats and calls. You must not post:

  • Posting unwanted material (spam, scams or content nobody asked for)
  • Posting nude or sexual pictures or videos
  • Abuse, harassment, bullying or threats

Members who break these rules may be suspended for 24 hours, after which their account is released automatically. Serious or repeated violations may lead to a permanent block. HelloChat admins may remove violating messages, photos and files at any time.

To help keep HelloChat safe, new messages, chat photos and profile photos are checked automatically by an AI tool. Posts that may break these rules are flagged for an admin to review. The check can make mistakes, so an admin decides what happens. Voice notes and other files are not checked.

Your content and conduct

You are responsible for messages, photos, files, and statements you share and for having permission to use them. Do not impersonate others, harass or threaten anyone, commit fraud, share unlawful content, or infringe privacy, copyright, or other rights.

Content shared by members represents their own views, not an endorsement by HelloChat. Photo approval, moderation, and account access do not verify a person’s identity, guarantee that content is accurate or lawful, or certify that a member is trustworthy.

Use care when interacting with people you do not know. HelloChat does not guarantee the outcome of personal or business dealings between members. Nothing shared through the service should be treated as professional legal, medical, financial, or emergency advice.

Voice and video calls

HelloChat does not charge members for chat, voice calls, or video calls. Your internet or mobile provider may charge for the data you use; those charges are separate from HelloChat.

Calls depend on your device, permissions, internet connection, and third-party network services. Calls may fail, disconnect, be delayed, or have poor sound or picture quality. Delivery, ringing, availability, and uninterrupted connection are not guaranteed.

The administrator may independently switch voice or video calling on or off. Turning a call type off prevents new calls of that type and may end ongoing calls. Availability may change for maintenance, safety, capacity, or other operational reasons.

HelloChat is not an emergency telephone service and does not connect you to emergency services. In an emergency, use your local emergency number through a suitable phone service.

Respect other participants’ privacy. Before recording or distributing any conversation, obtain all consent required by the laws that apply to you and the other participants. Do not assume the app can prevent another person from recording.

Service and warranty disclaimer

To the extent permitted by applicable law, HelloChat is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of uninterrupted availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or freedom from errors. No service can guarantee that every harmful message, impersonation attempt, security incident, or loss of data will be prevented.

These disclaimers do not exclude warranties, consumer protections, or other rights that applicable law does not allow to be excluded. Nothing here removes HelloChat’s legal obligations concerning privacy or data protection.

Limits of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, HelloChat and its operator are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost business opportunities, or loss of data arising from use of, or inability to use, the service.

HelloChat is not responsible for members’ independent conduct or content, or for third-party services outside its reasonable control, except where applicable law imposes responsibility on HelloChat. These terms do not excuse HelloChat’s own unlawful conduct.

Nothing in these policies excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Any limitation applies only to the extent enforceable under the law that applies to your claim.

Safety concerns and legal rights

Members can block other accounts and contact support through Account → Support. HelloChat may review reported concerns and remove content or restrict access where permitted by law and its member rules. Moderation is not a promise that every concern will be detected or resolved immediately.

These policies do not require you to waive your right to bring a lawful claim, report an issue to a regulator, or exercise mandatory consumer or privacy rights. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions apply only as permitted by law.

Updates will be shown on this page with a revised date. Any additional notice or consent required by applicable law will still be required; publication alone does not override that requirement.
